Janna Gilkison
Lead Senior Executive Recruiter
Janna commenced her tenure with UC San Diego in 2007 starting the Executive Recruitment function for the campus. Preceding her role at UC San Diego she was a key player at Two Degrees, a staffing firm where her primary focus was recruitment of mid to high-level finance professionals. Janna also has experience in higher education as the Director of Admissions for the University of Washington Business School. Earlier in her career Janna served as a career coordinator at the University of Oregon where she managed recruitment efforts on campus for major companies nationwide. Janna attended Washington State University as an undergraduate and Seattle Pacific University for graduate school. With a robust background spanning recruitment and higher education administration, Janna is well-position to navigate the dynamic landscapes of talent acquisition and make meaningful contributions to academic institutions.

Jen joined the UC San Diego Executive Recruitment Service team in the summer of 2022, bringing over a decade of comprehensive recruitment expertise. Her professional background encompasses diverse sectors, including roles at a retained recruitment agency and within a privately held defense organization. With a strong foundation in talent acquisition, adept onboarding strategies, and a proven track record in sourcing across various industries, Jen is committed to continuous learning. A graduate of Arizona State University's business program, she proudly holds a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) certification from HRCI.

Dana Baker
Associate Executive Recruiter
Dana joined UC San Diego in 2018, bringing over two decades of Human Resources expertise, with a predominant focus on recruitment. Her career includes a variety of staffing experiences specializing in Accounting/Finance, Human Resources, Administrative, Marketing, and Real Estate/Construction at all organizational levels.
Before joining the ERS team at UC San Diego, Dana undertook a pivotal role in establishing and growing a start-up executive search firm in San Diego. Her success involved building strong partnerships with candidates as well as with many local organizations.

Nicki Efe
Associate Recruiter
Nicki joined UC San Diego Extension in 2013. After working as an HR Generalist with a focus on staff recruitment for six years, she transferred to Central HR as an Associate Recruiter supporting Information Technology Services. In that role, Nicki handled ITS’ staff recruitments and assisted the Executive Recruiter with candidate sourcing efforts. At the end of 2022, she joined Executive Recruitment Services as an associate recruiter. Nicki holds a certificate in Human Resources from UC San Diego Extension and is a certified professional through SHRM.

Steve Yi
Senior Executive Recruiter, Advancement
Coming from outside higher education, Steve served as a full-desk headhunter at Korn Ferry recruiting for engineering, operations, and supply chain leaders before coming to UC San Diego in 2021. As the Senior Executive Recruiter for Advancement, Steve partners with leadership to create, implement, and execute recruitment and succession planning strategies to attract and retain top tier talent. He prides himself in his ability to cultivate solid relationships through in-depth, strategic conversations with diverse audiences evidenced by his prior assignments as a trust officer and business development professional for First American, Merrill Lynch, and Charles Schwab.
Originally from Orange County, Steve holds a BA in Business from Cal State Fullerton and an MBA from Chapman University.

Nadia Awadallah
Associate Executive Recruiter, Advancement
Nadia joined UC San Diego in 2018, and has almost a decade of recruiting experience. She plays a pivotal role in staffing for UCSD’s Advancement Team, and over the years has built a great understanding of philanthropy and the fundraising world to better serve this department. Nadia is also a certified Diversity and Inclusion recruiter and is dedicated to UCSD’s EDI mission. Prior to starting at UCSD, Nadia was a full cycle recruiter for an agency working on a wide range of professions from Accounting, Manufacturing, Administration, and more.
